Application
REFCO COMBI is a universal condensate pump designed to remove condensate water from split air-conditioning systems with a cooling capacity from 1.75 to 35 kW. Its high pumping capacity, long discharge head and digital water-level detection make it suitable for both small and large installations.
The pump can be installed next to the indoor unit or separately, for example above a suspended ceiling. The separate water sensor can be mounted horizontally or vertically.
Features & functions
- Digital water-level sensor with no moving float components that could stick or become blocked.
- Quiet diaphragm pump with a noise level of 19 dB(A).
- Adjustable pump performance using DIP switches to suit the individual installation.
- Self-priming design allows flexible positioning of the pump and sensor.
- Universal input voltage for installation in different types of systems.
- Configurable alarm relay with normally open or normally closed operation.
- Two-colour diagnostic LED simplifies commissioning and troubleshooting.
- USB connection allows access to information including installation date, operating time, pump cycles and alarm history.

Installation
The pump and its electrical connections must be installed by qualified personnel in accordance with REFCO’s installation instructions and applicable electrical regulations. The water sensor can be installed horizontally or vertically, and all hose connections must be secured with cable ties. Hoses must be routed without kinks, restrictions or other obstacles to water flow.
The alarm relay must be connected according to the manufacturer’s wiring diagram so that the indoor unit is stopped if the condensate level becomes too high. The supplied Star-Tube hose with anti-siphon device is recommended to reduce vibration, noise and
the risk of siphoning.
Read the attached installation and operating guide and quick guide before installation.
Commissioning
After installation, check pump start-up, condensate removal and alarm operation. Also verify that all hose connections are watertight, the hoses are free from blockages and condensate is discharged without leakage.
Use the DIP switches to adjust the pump capacity according to the amount of condensate and the installation’s discharge head, following REFCO’s instructions.
Cleaning & maintenance
The replaceable water filter protects the pump against foreign particles and should be cleaned or replaced at least once every 12 months. In environments with high levels of dust, smoke, cooking oils or a risk of algae growth, REFCO recommends cleaning or replacing the filter every three months.
Remove the filter from the sensor assembly and clean it thoroughly with cold water. At the same time, inspect the digital sensor, hoses and all connections. Always disconnect the power supply before cleaning, maintenance or service work.
The pump and sensor must not come into contact with cleaning chemicals. Before cleaning the evaporator coil, remove the pump and sensor. Flush the coil with water and ensure it is free from chemicals before reinstalling the equipment.
Important information
- The stated maximum flow rate does not apply at the maximum discharge head. Actual capacity is affected by discharge head, suction lift, hose length and hose routing.
- The product is intended for indoor installation only and must not be submerged in water.
- Do not operate the pump outside the specified ambient or condensate temperature range.
- Installation, electrical connection and servicing must be carried out by qualified personnel.
- The alarm function must be connected so that the associated equipment stops if the condensate level becomes too high.
- The pump cables must not be cut or subjected to tensile loads.
